“A great power has arisen, directing thoughts and perception in a certain direction towards a more complete and satisfactory view of reality than the modern conventions of materialism have previously allowed. Gently, subtly, with no disturbance or panic, we are being guided across a watershed, from one worldview to another. And this is in no way arbitrary, but a purposeful process, in accordance with the interests of eternal nature and the necessities of the present. We now can see something of what the ancients meant when they spoke of revelation.” — John Michell
On hearing about crop circles, you’d likely wonder if they have natural causes — the formations are geometric, but snowflakes and other wonders of natures are geometric, too. What precludes the possibility that the circles come from natural processes is their unique designs, with geometry so sophisticated that the patterns have supplied us with new theorems. Also, something that thinks has placed the formations in the landscape, where many of them are in carefully chosen alignment to ancient sacred sites.
You also might think the circles could be made by some of our sophisticated technology. Not so. No technological methods can account for how they are made, not to mention that they have been occurring since way before we were so technologically adept.
How about people stomping the patterns down? Although this occurs, there’s no way to replicate many of the features and aspects of the real deal. We can’t weave dry stalks; or bend celery-like plant shafts at right angles; or make cameras malfunction and batteries drain and cell phones go dead and compasses erratically spin. Also, laboratory analyses of plants and soil show biological and chemical changes that can't be accounted for. For more of what we can’t explain, have a look at Why Real Crop Circles Can’t be Hoaxed.
Just think. You wake up and CONTACT is in headlines. But it isn’t as you would have expected. No creatures have arrived. What has happened is that we’ve looked at the evidence and have recognized that crop circles come from an intelligent source that isn’t us. Can you imagine what would occur? The story wouldn't go away. Ever. And, in worldwide dialogue, people would be talking about what to do.
Perhaps something that has been trying to get our attention has been waiting to be recognized. Conceivably, it would be advanced enough to be able to help us deal with global warming, fossil fuel depletion, and other serious challenges we face. Given this possibility, plus the impetus we could get for humanity to cooperate, we strongly advocate that the circles be examined instead of ignored.
